Every completed full breakdown carries a small writeback badge. You'll find it in two places: in the status column of your breakdowns list, and at the top of the breakdown itself.
The badge is colored by outcome — green for completed, amber for partial, red for failed, blue for still running. Hover over it and it tells you the status in words.
Open the details
Click the badge. A panel opens showing what was written, when it ran, and how long it took, broken out area by area:
Patient information and policy information
Insurance plan
Appointment
Benefits — plan amounts, orthodontics, coverage categories, code groups, and individual codes
Used amounts
Every line inside those sections carries its own outcome: Written, Already up to date, Skipped, Needs attention, Failed, or Not attempted. So you can see not just that something didn't write, but exactly which value it was.
On OpenDental, each row has a small View icon. Click it and we'll show you where that value lands in OpenDental, so you can go and confirm it with your own eyes.
What the statuses mean
Completed — everything wrote successfully.
Partial Success — some areas wrote, some didn't. Open the details to see which.
Failed — nothing wrote, or it stopped partway through.
In Progress or Pending — still running. It starts on its own; there's nothing to click.
No Change — we ran, and everything in your system already matched the verified values.
You may also see a status telling you we're waiting on the connection to your practice software. That usually clears by itself — we keep retrying.
If something failed
Read the message in the panel. It usually names the problem outright: a missing API key, a plan that no longer exists, or a connection that was down.
Fix what it names.
Click Rerun Writeback. That button appears on failed and partial writebacks only.
Still stuck? Email [email protected] with the patient name and the date, and we'll look.
