What does writeback do in EagleSoft?

On EagleSoft writeback fills in coverage percentages only — nothing else. What you'll see, what you'll still enter by hand, and how to check it worked.

On EagleSoft, writeback does one thing: it fills in the coverage percentages on the patient's insurance coverage table. Nothing else is written.

What you'll see

Open the patient's insurance in EagleSoft and look at the coverage table. The percentage column for each procedure category — preventive, restorative, and so on — is updated to match what we verified with the payer. Orthodontic coverage percentage is included.

Two categories behave differently:

  • The General category is left alone.

  • Categories we didn't get a verified percentage for keep whatever is already there.

What is not written to EagleSoft

  • Deductibles.

  • Annual maximums, and amounts used or remaining.

  • Per-procedure-code coverage, frequencies and age limits.

  • Insurance history dates.

  • Plan notes, appointment notes, and the last-verified date.

This isn't a setup problem on your end and it isn't something support can switch on. EagleSoft simply accepts far less than OpenDental does. Everything above is still verified and still in your breakdown — open the breakdown or the PDF in Stratus to read it, and enter by hand anything you need inside EagleSoft.

Setup

There's no key to install. EagleSoft writeback rides on the same connection your practice already uses to sync patients with Stratus. If that connection is healthy, writeback works.

Checking it worked

Open the breakdown in Stratus and click the writeback badge at the top. You'll see the coverage table we wrote, category by category, with the old value, the new value, and whether each one was written, already up to date, skipped, or failed — plus a count of each at the top.

If it failed or only partly succeeded, a Rerun Writeback button appears in that same panel. Rerunning is safe.
